What is coaching?
Coaching is an empowering relationship between coach and client designed to help the client to reach goals faster, easier and with more confidence than on their own.
Coaching provides the space for the client to get clear on what they want to accomplish, set specific goals, design effective action plans and eliminate obstacles. This is often a challenging environment, where big changes can and do occur.
Coaching vs. Therapy
While therapy traditionally deals with issues of the past, the “why”, coaching is forward-moving and action-oriented. Designing and living life to its fullest is the focus of coaching. Although more therapists are becoming coaches, the two are typically separate arenas, with different approaches and intended outcomes.
How it works…
Most coaching takes place over the phone, usually by weekly appointment for a pre-determined length of time. Coaching relationships can last for years, but most typically range from 6 months to one year or longer. Each relationship is unique and the details are up to the mutual agreements made between coach and client.
Why chose a certified coach?
Professional coaches have been trained in areas of personal development using sound models and proven techniques. They are proficient in listening, observing and tailoring their style to meet the needs of the client. While life experience is very valuable in a coaching relationship, the skills a professionally trained coach is required to possess can greatly improve its value to both coach and client.
How much will it cost?
The cost of coaching can vary greatly, but typically coaches charge on a monthly basis, with fees ranging from as little as $200 per month to as much as $1000 per month. It is best to shop around for the right coach for you first and then discuss the fees. Many coaches are willing to negotiate and some even take on pro-bono clients.
